Using units in EditComponentValue
Re: Using units in EditComponentValue
Thanks for the references Reid. I just downloaded free PDF versions of all three books. About 1,800 pages of light reading...

Huh. I knew the Holub book was available that way (and no other, these days), but didn't think the others were free anywhere.

Yeah, I was surprised to find the Fieddl book for free (although it is 16 years old now so probably not as valuable as it once was).UrbanCyborg wrote: ↑Sat Jul 02, 2022 9:28 pm Huh. I looked back through my browsing history and think these links are where I got the downloads from...

On a quick glance I think I read the Chomsky and Holub books many years ago, but the Friedl book is definitely new to me.

I think you'll find that the regex book is still pretty germane, especially the discussions on how regex engines are constructed under the skin.

Re: Using units in EditComponentValue
Cheers, Reid, I figured the info was still very relevant. Regular expressions go back a long way so I can't see much changing in recent times other than minor details of specific implementations.
I was just pondering as to why the book was available for free download. I don't know if that particular website has the rights to offer the PDF version of the book for free to be honest. I assumed it's all legit but haven't actually done any investigation of pdfdrive.com.

You got me on that one, but I downloaded a copy, just to have. That way, I can read it on my phone when I'm away from the computer.

Re: Using units in EditComponentValue
I'm fairly certain that those PDFDrive copies are bootleg/bogus.
O'Reilly has been publishing Comp. Sci. related texts for decades, and have their own on-line distribution system.
If you want a legit copy of the RegEx text, get it from the source.

Fair enough Terry. I've edited my old post to remove the links.

Thanks Colin!
Sorry to a Nanny about it, but I've been an O'Reilly customer since before there were pdf's
Their stuff is good and they're worth supporting directly.
Cheers,
