Scroll bars in "Editable Text" object

Hi folks,
I'm not sure that the following observed behaviour of the "Editable Text" object makes much sense.

When editing one of these, in a live module, if I exceed the size of the object then scroll bars appear. Fine. That makes sense.

However, when I finish editing, the scroll bars disappear. This means that I can't read my off-screen text any more, unless I go into edit mode again.

I would expect the scroll bars to persist or there to be an option to constrain the amount of text to the available space.
