This tip was inspired by a post from user PoorFellow.
I've been more than a little frustrated using the built-in search functions on
1) these forums and
2) the CA Store
1) Sometimes, a search will return an error report if the search term is 'too common', too short or too long.
Example:
"The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words: cable.
You must specify at least one word to search for. Each word must consist of at least 3 characters and must not contain more than 14 characters excluding wildcards."
2) The built-in search does not process the description text in VM modules and bundles, relying on title and keywords instead.
Example:
Searching for a Sallen-Key filter for VM, the only module returned was "SK LP Filter" by Nzgzr78. It did not find "Boomstick" by Vult.
It's possible to use Google to perform search operations which sidestep these issues.
In the Google search box, place your normal search terms in. Add the appropriate formatting if you want to specify compulsory terms, boolean conditions, literal phrases, etc. At the end of your search term, add one of the following clauses:
1) To search within these forums, add the clause "site:forums.cherryaudio.com" (without quotes).
2) To search within the store, add the clause "site:store.cherryaudio.com" (without quotes).
Example 1:
Searching for "cable color" (i.e. those two words in that specific order, separated by one space character.)
+"cable color" site:forums.cherryaudio.com
Example 2:
Searching for Sallen Key in the store: (a looser specification than the example above, as the term may be hyphenated or not.)
sallen key site:store.cherryaudio.com
