Configuring Octave Cat for a specific version - Original or SRM

Post by apesma »

Guys, this is awesome.

This is long forgotten synth finally gets the attention it deserves.

My buddy had one of these back in the day, and we jammed with it all the time.

He told me, and as I understand it, there are two versions of the octave cat. The original, and the SRM.

He had the SRM version.

It's not obvious to me from the user interface or the documentation if there is a switch of some sort that would automatically configure the cat to behave like these versions did, In addition to the great features added by Cherry Audio.

Can somebody tell us what settings we need to configure to emulate both these versions? Perhaps a suggestion to include something like this for a future update?

Figured it out, at least for appearances sake:
Settings->Interface->Theme-> Mk 1
-> SRM

I don't think any other setting change is made to make the cat "behave" like those versions.

Am I wrong?

Yes. That's only GUI change. I also noticed and checked the differences between MK 1 and SRM, but nothing happened.
As you may know, notable differences between MK 1 and SRM are already included in Octave CAT. You can see the differences between Mk 1, SRM I, AND SRM II on the page below;

The switch is just a UI change. The Octave Cat itself is mostly modeled on the SRM I version with the SSM 2040 filter. The Curtis and the 2044 are not emulated here, though aspects/features of each of the models is incorporated into the design of Octave Cat. Basically, what we felt was a single "best of all worlds" emulation along with the novel features that we added. We generally don't talk about future plans, but we'll note your suggestion for a future version that might dynamically emulate other revisions. There are just no plans for that at this time.

No worries and thank you for clarifying!

Thanks again for bringing this synth back and letting me relive my high school days!
