Oversampling Quality Setting?

Synthesizer Expander Module is a FREE emulation of the classic self‑contained synthesizer module of the same name. We've precisely recreated it here with a filter section and Phasor effect programmed by award-winning synth designer Mark Barton (MRB).

Oversampling Quality Setting?

Post by BadBadger »

Howdy, CA.

I happened to notice that even though your email mentions the "User-adjustable oversampling control," it appears that the SEM is your first synth (other than VM) that does not have it. Have you quit offering that setting?

Since the SEM is a VM module rather than a stand-alone synth, it runs at the overclock setting set in VM. The Eight Voice is a stand-alone synthesizer, and does have its own overclock setting.

My apologies. I didn't realize there was a new stand-alone SEM. I just installed it, ran it through its paces, and skimmed the Fine Manual. Looks like there is, indeed, no overclock option. Or I could have just missed it. Perhaps one of the CA sysops will supply the straight poop.

There doesn't seem to be an internal oversampling option. However, what it will do is follow the sampling rate of your interface settings (in standalone mode), or the host DAW's session sampling rate. So, if you're running your interface (or session) at 96kHz, you will get effectively "x2 oversampling" compared to 48kHz.

I even got it to run at 32 kHz with my old Behringer Xenyx 302 I/F! :)

This is a snapshot of the SEM running at 192kHz under Reason 12. Everything above the fundamental frequency is inaudible to me! :)

Hi,

This free synth doesn't include an oversampling setting, but we're not doing away with oversampling settings.
