Daphne's amazing machine was an early inspiration for me back in the late 1970's but it's much more modern than the MkII.

Tom Richards' PhD paper on her work is available as a PDF for anyone curious to learn more...

Hey, we used to do sound editing that way in Vladimir Ussachevsky's Electronic Music Lab, although we didn't use film; we sliced and spliced segments of audio tape in the kinds of shapes you see on those film segments. Ah, those weren't the days. :D
