Hello,
I am using VM for the first time. I'm in ProTools Ultimate 2024.3.1 on Windows 11.
I loaded the preset called "Nucleus Bass". I recorded a midi track normally,
but when playing back, sometimes the VM gets stuck on a fixed note which stays even if stop playback.
Can't understand why. Any ideas ? Thank you
S.G.

Welcome to the forum, and the wonderful world of VM!
There are four versions of "Nucleus Bass" in the Nucleus preset pack. However, all of them should be silent after you stop playing all notes.
When you do hear a stuck note, are you seeing the Sustain LED in the amplitude ENVELOPE GENERATOR module illuminated as shown below (Nucleus Bass 1 patch)?
If this is the case, then it looks like your MIDI input stream from Pro-Tools might be the issue, rather than VM. Have you tried playing the stream on another plug-in? Does it also exhibit stuck notes? (Be sure to try a sustained sound like an organ, rather than a percussive, decaying sound like a piano).
Alternatively, it might be the case that you increased the value of the 'Gain' knob on the AMPLIFIER module in order to turn up the voume of the sound. This is the "Initial Gain" setting, will cause the amplifier to constantly output a certain level of signal, even when the envelope generator input voltage is at zero.

Re: Stuck note
Hi, thank you !
As you can see from my screenshot (using Nucleus Bass 1) when I have a stuck note my Sustain Leds are On,
but I haven't modified the Gain... I tried to assign the same midi track to other synths but no one gives me the same problem,
and on the same song I have many other tracks assigned to other synts with no problems either.
Also, the only way to get it to work again is to deactivate and reactivate the track.
Let me know if you have any other ideas I can try, thank you

Re: Stuck note
It sounds like a MIDI issue with the gate hanging high as Grant suggested.
You could confirm this by checking VM's GATE output by connecting an oscilloscope module as shown below but I'm almost certain that you'll see the signal sticking at +5 V when you get the problem as I can't think of any other explanation.
I have a vague recollection of someone having problems using ProTool with VM in the past so it's probably best to raise a ticket with Cherry Audio support about this...

They are usually very good at providing fast support.

Re: Stuck note
Thank you, yes the oscilloscope test confirmed the +5V when I have a stuck note.
I sent a support request to Cherry Audio.

Re: Stuck note
I've been confirmed it's a known issue with ProTools and will be addressed in a future update.
