Mod-wheel range

Post by looneytoonz »

Hi Cherry Audio people,

Here's another usability request: I'd like range control for the ModWheel to specify the amount of modulation for (typically Mono-Mod) sources.

Here's the scenario - by default, if I try to do something like have the ModWheel give performative control of the LFO to OscA Freq and OscB Freq, I select the FreqA/FreqB Mono-Mod buttons, and I get ModWheel Control of LFO amount to the Osc frequencies. I have an initial amount control that allows LFO amount to the oscillators directly, but not the amount going through the ModWheel. So the ModWheel range is usually 0 -> 100% full modulation.

There is a workaround - to turn off the OscA/OscB Mono-mod Freq Controls, and to use the Midi Bindings to bind ModWheel to Initial LFO amount (and use the Midi Bindings to restrict the ModWheel range). This is cumbersome however.

What would be much slicker would be to have a ModWheel range knob (right above the Mod Wheel, next to the Pitch Bend Range knob) that restricts modulation amount from the wheel.

Anybody else find this useful?
Thanks,
Kevin L

Another implementation possibility ...

It might be usable to specify range of control for things like ModWheel, Pitchbend, from the MidiBinings panel. This would allow a user to specify ModWheel range without changing the current UI.

... just a thought ...
