indeed this isn't a solution, this is a workaround.cherryaudio Greg wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 12:52 am Hi,
The title "New update = back to sluggish computer performance and crackles ..." led me to think that. Thanks for sharing the solution you found!

I'm not sure whether it's just my imagination but scrolling around large patches now seems to be a lot more sluggish too.

HI,
HowlingMod, are you noticing an increase in CPU usage also?
Does the additional CPU usage diminish over time?
If people experiencing this issue hide cables, does that have an effect on the issue?

My problem with the slow scrolling was fixed by disabling OpenGL in the Settings menu.
This produced a huge reduction in general CPU load too (back to previous levels) so it's worth trying on your setup. I suspect the new install has changed such settings back to defaults.
I still have a slight problem with crackling but will experiment with other settings as the new version may well have changed those too.
Thanks to Greg for a super quick response to my email about these issues. It's great to see such professional levels of support!

Hi,
Version 2.2.4 has been released. This probably won't affect crackling, but if anyone was getting clicks... this update is for you.
