The VCO in the Laboratory Bundle does not have those artifacts. (known as Gibbs phenomenon if you wanna look it up)

Thanks for that heads up Mark but I'm planning on creating a dead simple specialised VCO for LSSP that creates the required signal.

This might all sound rather confusing to some as I'm talking without explaining the context. My experiments are with CV Sequencer and V/Bar Utility - modules that haven't been released yet.

I didn't notice a problem using a square wave as a master clock. Here's my preset, which requires the 2500 bundle and a couple other modules.

There are two different approaches here.

One is using a clock to drive a conventional sequencer to produce a signal (at a much lower frequency than the clock - four octaves lower if the sequencer has 16 steps).

Then there's what JK and I are talking about which is using a sawtooth oscillator to drive a voltage controlled sequencer such as JK's CV Canvas in Phase Mode or my as yet unreleased CV Sequencer - where the instantaneous voltage of the sawtooth directly controls the "playback head" of the sequencer (and therefore the driving oscillator and output from the sequencer have the same fundamental frequency).

It's only in this second approach that artifacts such as the Gibbs ringing phenomena (used to reduce aliasing) that Mark was talking about have any impact.

Anyone got an idea of how to randomize the Sequence OSC in my patch above? I was going to use Remote Control; but as I've complained about before, it forces a default position which gets reset under a variety of inconvenient circumstances.

I think that better than using a sequencer, my Vector Processor module would perform better in this application. It's pretty much made for doing what you want. Although I didn't envision modulating it at audio rates, it will certainly do it. You will also get true variable interpolation between the stages without the use of filtering. I know it's only 8 stages, but why not give it a try. Polyphonic too.

Sounds, good, but I actually really like the audio in blocks that I can filter myself. It has a very cool sound on its own that isn't a square wave, per se. I'm still interested in your wares, however. :)

MRB, that's a very cool module, but not really what I'm after. I'm after what I original stated, which I've almost got but not quite. Benard's Multi Sequencer would have pretty much nailed it, if it didn't freak out at audio rates. As it stands, I'm going with the Cherry 16-step sequencer; but ideally it would be the same thing but rather an OSC, so it didn't require all the fancy wiring. Further, it would be great if there were VC inputs for each step and a random generator for all steps as well as sync. I prefer faders for this use case, because I can visualize the waveform easily. I'm loving this conversation though, so don't take my stubbornness as a lack of interest. After watching your video, I subscribed to your channel, so I can get a better feel for MRB modules I don't yet own. That is a really cool plugin, and the audio rate version of it would be fascinating as well.
