Hello !
If I remenber well, CMD/CTRL + SHIFT + S makes the job overwriting the patch... And CMD/CTRL + SHIFT + N opens a new patch witout the "save dialog box"
If it helps....
But a good idea would be as you say
CMD/CTRL + SHIFT + S as save as, and
CMD/CTRL + S as simply save !

I have nearly 2000 modules, and it takes a long, long time to turn all those flags off manually, and until you do, the flags are basically useless.

How about MIDI key controlled Variation selections to allow jumping between your Voltage Modular variations list using the white keys or white and black keys on a MIDI keyboard. I initially had someone design me a patch that allows MIDI key control to jump between 24 variations but now I want the feature built in to solidify VM feature wise. Variations mapped to MIDI keys as a VM feature.

What VM does is really a "Save As..." - it should be treated as such (it's nice to have) and added to the Saving options. VM does actually let you override the dialog box by CMD/CTRL clicking the Save button, or by typing "CMD/CTRL S", but why not use the same protocol as other software? This could apply to Variations too. Tweak a Variation, Save, no dialog box. It would make using them more efficient.

I'd also REALLY like to be able to view the contents of the folder where I'm saving and even navigate to related folders. I hate having to guess at what else is on the drive when I'm saving or renaming, etc. It's a drag to be blind when using the Save dialog, and it's counter to good practise on both OSX and Windows.

And on the topic of Variations, I'd like to have an option to "lock" a parameter against variation. An example is adding a module like a mixer after you've made a few Variations, and then having to resave each Variation with the new module's settings. It'd be much better to optionally have selected parameters or even entire modules ignore the Variation settings.

Not sure if its on the list or not; I seem to recommend it several years ago, but so far as I can tell, suggestions are just in an unordered, non-structured, non-logical, non-topical list [please correct me if I am wrong), and it is hard for see at a glance what has been suggested and what hasn't.

Boot VM asks "Download Update? There is an update to a module. Would you like to download it?"
Suggested improvement:
(a) have a list of all such updates available
(b) show details
--current update installed, date installed; new build offered, date made available
--link to information (if available) about / specific to the new build
(c) a mechanism for choosing which updates to install
--immediate: for one-by-one module updating
--delayed until list is Oked
--option to save list
--option to return to list, esp. of un-updated modules for a later time

It's just a list I'm afraid. I have added your request.

Would it be possible to add a "Rescan MIDI Devices" button to the Audio/MIDI Settings dialog?

I quite often launch VM to work on patches and just use my Korg nanoKEY2 for convenience (it's always plugged into my PC). However, to really work on intricate sounds with performance aspects, I need to bring in the 'Big Guns' in the shape of my Nektar Panorama T6 (which is usually disconnected from my PC for desk space reasons).

If VM is running, then the T6 does not show up. I have to shut down VM and restart it before the T6 appears in the "Active MIDI inputs" section and lets you play the patch.

It's a 'first world problem' for sure, but it would be nice to be able to recognise any new MIDI devices without exiting the VM environment.

Not necessarily with CA products, but I occasionally find that Windows [Win 10 Pro] will somehow change the status / visibility / accessibility of midi devices. Sometimes (but not always) it seems like it's caused by Windows' so-called "energy-saving" rules (though Windows at times seems to ignore my "Sleep=never" settings). Sometimes it seems like it's caused by other software.

I also look for the least intrusive way to get a midi device seen. It is automatic (I just go for what I think might work each time) and I haven't systematically kept track (mental or physical notes) on what works with which software and which devices. Don't quote me on this, but I seem to recall that with CA products, changing the Windows Driver Mode might (at least in some cases) trigger a peek at which midi devices Windows reports to software (such as VM) as being available. (Switch mode; wait; switch back)

As I understand your request, that's sort of what you are asking for: a way within VM to tell Windows to recheck the availability of midi devices (including ones that Windows might have put to sleep) and to report their availability back to VM.

If Windows provides a way for software makers to trigger a reset [rescan MIDI devices] and CA can make a button to do that, I'd probably use it!!!!

What I would love Cherry Audio to add to Voltage Modular in version 3.0 is an Mk 2 version of their core module Arp that's much more full featured than the current Voltage Modular Arp Mk 1 module that comes with Voltage Modular. Also I want Galactic reverb & their Space reverb in Voltage as a 3.0 feature. When should v3.0 be coming along any chance for it in early to mid 2025?
