Creating a Transport Control in VM Standalone

Post by huggermugger »

It's easy to set up a Transport when you're using VM Standalone. A Transport lets you start and stop your sequencers with a single mouse click. Here are two examples, virtually identical, but the first one uses a generic Button module while the second one uses Monkey Business's Playback Control. I'm using green cables for Start and Reset, red cables for Stop, and yellow cables for Clock data.

Here's what it would look like to control two sequencers from a single set of buttons. In this case, the Sync Divider is set to 16th notes for both Sequencers. If you wanted each sequencer to have its own pulse rate (e.g. 16th notes on one, but 8th notes on the other), you'd need a second Sync Divider.

The bottom button on P.Moon's module is a toggle... meaning you can use a single button to stop and start, if you prefer that style of transport control. Like so:
The attachment OneButtonTransport.jpg is no longer available
And another option is MBA's Tempo Clock module. It both gives you the functionality of the play button *AND* the sync divider in a single module. Super convenient in standalone!

Ooops, this archaic forum software seems to like eating attachments if you preview your post first.

Here was the second shot of the MBA module:
