I know this works only with the same kind of modules, but if this worked, this would be fantastic.
For example imagine: Just swap a filter or an oscillator with another and the cables and connections are preserved so you can immediately use it.
This would be so awesome!
If this is possible in any way, please can you implement this?
A very useful feature request: Swapping modules with cables preserved
Re: A very useful feature request: Swapping modules with cables preserved
This is something I've thought would be useful too, but to work the socket names would have to match exactly.
Re: A very useful feature request: Swapping modules with cables preserved
Yeah, I know it might not be the easiest one and will only work with modules which have the same sockets. But still I think this could make a great workflow in comparing similar modules.

maybe at least the most important connections like CV, gate, triggers...

The Nord G2 Modular has this feature. You click the dropdown menu and you can swap to another module from the same category. If there are cables patches in, and the module you're swapping has the same patch points, the cables will remain patched. If not, gone. And parameters in common will be retained, for example, Cutoff and Resonance. It works pretty well.

Thank you for the interesting remarks. And I didn't know that this kind of topic already existed.
But maybe this double request will double the attention from the Cherry Audio developer team.
I think this is a very essential request.

+1 Indeed: A very useful feature request!

Maybe additional tagging to I/O jacks on modules is needed?
Something like--
[Audio In], [Audio Out],
[CV In 1], [CV In 2],
[Cutoff CV in],
[Trigger in]
--
I think those must be set in Module Designer by module developers.
