I just tried it with Cubase and it crashed Cubase, too.
SRSLY, how is anyone using this program when it crashes the host?

I'm running Cubase 11 on Windows 10 and it handles VM 2.3.4 (VST2 version) with (mini) plugin host without problems.

No crashes here (Windows 10, Ryzon 9 5900X). I tried both the standalone and also running VM in Reaper. I loaded VCV Rack, Softtube Modular and even VM as plugins, and it worked.
However, I would have a feature request for the plugin hosts. When I am trying to use other modular environments, such as the upcoming VCV Rack Pro, or Softtube Modular as plugins, and pass CVs back and forth, the voltages need to be rescaled to be at the right level. 1V sent from VM via the plugin host module to VCV or Softtube arrives there as 2V, and 1V sent back from the plugins to the VM host modular arrives in the host as 0.5V.
This also means that audio levels are too hot in the plugins, and returns are too low and need to be boosted in VM.
Using VM itself as plugin gives the correct values.
This is not a 'bug' as there are no standards for sending CVs across the host-plugin link, but it would be great if there was a switch on the host modules to adjust for that. Combining various modular environments in this way opens huge possibilities
