How is this better than the patch area on this forum?

It’s a much better user experience IMO. Patchstorage allows for tags, advanced search, upvotes etc. As the preset bank grows this becomes really useful. Have a look at the VCVRack section and you will see what I mean
https://patchstorage.com/platform/vcv-rack/
Also, patches are being shared here, on Facebook and on Discord. Patchstorage will be a good one stop home if it catches on. It has been a real success for the other platforms as far as I can tell.
The email notifications are more targeted as well, rather than getting mixed in with general forum notifications.
Let’s see how if goes.

You can now upload Voltage Modular cabinets to Patchstorage as well using the .cabinet extension.

I'd like to encourage forum users to upload their best example patches or some template cabinets to Patch Storage. It would be great to get examples of some of peoples best stuff. As I mentioned in another post I own lot's of modules but I'm getting into Voltage Modular slowly. It would be great to hear some techno or Berlin or beats or generative sequencing or some other real clever patches. on Patch Storage or to have some nice arps or cinematic pads or chords for instance.

I think the main problem with sharing patches is that different people own different sets of modules. This is probably why the Preset Exchange section of this forum isn't exactly overflowing with stuff.
Of course we could post patches that only use the Core modules but most enthusiasts buy extra modules precisely because they want to use them to push things further - so their most interesting patches aren't going to be ones that are restricted to only using the Core modules.
I don't see any way around this problem.

Well I would encourage people to rely on demoing modules. VCV Rack the euro rack stand alone and plugin has a huge upload collection of almost 7000 patches on patch storage and VCV has pay modules + free ones. People often provide YouTube or SoundCloud demonstrations of their VCV patch storage patches and if users chose to share some impressive works with a video or sound demo those who want the modules in the posted patch would be likely to buy them. Myself included. I really want to see creative things Voltage Modular can do to get inspiration. I’ve made only about almost 25 patches in it so far.

You can also batch upload to Patchstorage via API

That's a fair point but I'm not sure how many people go through the process with VM.
I think presets are most popular in a non-modular setup. My guess is that a lot of people who use virtual synths don't program them from scratch but rather browse through presets until they find something they like (then possibly apply one or two simple tweaks).
Whereas with modular it's far more experimental and open-ended so presets make less sense.
I get that VCV Rack has more mileage but I think that's down to a much larger user base and there being a large number of free modules.
As you probably know I'm a dev and unfortunately CA don't provide any information on how many people download demos of my modules. So I have no idea how many people do so and as a result I have no idea of what is called the conversion rate either.
My only feedback in this regard is from my website visitor stats. And what I find is that a small number of people have intense interest - most days a couple of people will spend two or three hours browsing but the vast majority of people seem to only look at one or two pages so I very much doubt many people are downloading demos and trying things out. Even though for instance my LSSP XL bundle has a 30 day free trial period and extensive documentation and tutorials.
Which raises another point. Some devs offer extremely short demo periods so that puts people off. Why go to the bother of downloading stuff if it's going to stop working in a day or two?

I understand the limitations of demoing to hear the patches but I just wanted to try to convince people to upload some of their best sound things to Patch Storage anyhow. Maybe they can upload some stuff to the forum preset section otherwise. The Nord Modular e-mail list is where I originally got links to modular patches and often people often uploaded impressive stuff to forums/web repositories. On the VCV Patch Storage site there are a big handful of very nice patches. Hoping for the best.
