[Feature Request] Clock Multiplier Module/Voltage Controlled Switch

To enable "ratcheting" effects on sequences and beats, it would be really helpful to add a Clock Multiplier utility - ideally this would be voltage controlled multiplication say from 1 through 32 (or maybe even 64, maybe also offering clock division by multiple 1/2, 1/4, ….) or, if there were also a voltage-controlled (8 to 1) switch (CV amount determines the input, rather than the 8 to 1 step driven module), then with a set of either controlled or fixed ratios which the voltage-controlled switch could control (ideally at least 4 outputs, maybe 8, to provide flexible ratcheting).

I've talked to Dan about this (main DSP/module genius) and he swears that it can't be done, b/c the computer can't "see into the future." He assures me that you always have to start with a fast clock speed and divide down. I'm not sure I believe him :D , but I just draw the modules, I don't have to program them!

(With that said, we will almost certainly make a sequencer that does "ratchety" type of stuff in the near future.)

Hi there,
Clock Multipliers exist in Eurorack Hardware (e.g. https://www.modulargrid.net/e/4ms-compa ... istributor).
I guess they are based on Phase-locked Loop (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phase-locked_loop) circuits.
Having a clock Multiplier module (or combined divider/Multiplier like the 4ms clock distributor) in VM would be sweet.
:)

There is a combined divider/multiplier module in Solorack:

I don't see the use of a clock multiplier, first because it will introduce a time lag, the module must wait the next clock pulse and second, the clock is rate are 96 pulses per quarter is enough for ratcheting, just use 2 clocks or 2 clock divider.
Perhaps I miss something, tell me.
