Module demo mode details

I was just wondering, what exactly are the demo restrictions for modules?

And can the demo flag be accessed through the API?

Demos have complete functions of regular module. Only difference is, that you can use a demo module for a given count of days only. After that periode module graphics get gray and functions are stopped.
